It started with a gift. In my final year of high school, my uncle handed me a Pentax K1000. Back then, photography was a ritual of supermarket-bought film rolls and the anticipation of waiting for the local grocery shop to return my prints. It was tactile and imperfect.
Life eventually got in the way, and that camera sat on a shelf, untouched, for eight years. When I finally picked it up again, I found exactly what I didn’t know I was missing. In a world increasingly saturated with AI-generated “slop” and hyper-polished digital noise, the Pentax felt like an anchor and a solid, heavy machine. It was slow. It was essential. It was real.
